this is how a real super computer is made:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-11766840

and this is the kind stuff we intend to use them for, you know, not the betterment of humankind, drastic leaps into science, bending and breaking mathematical models.... nope. just this.

"just this"???

If you ask me that seems pretty like a pretty important issue. The fastest supercomputer is being used for weather forcasts and finding oil but searching online to catch perpetrators of child pornography isn't a good use? Lol?

Learning to catch criminals is a nice thing sure. But the betterment of the human race shouldnt be spent on trying to police the human race, rather help evolve, educate, and move forward. Billions of dollars of money spent to make these things to help us do calculations and crunch numbers. Why not crunch them for cancer? Why not crunch them for physics? Are we so arrogant as a race that we need to show just how we can utilize what we have to police and control ourselves?

Personally, it's a nice lil title. Yay, super computers have a better rep now cuz they're helping catch criminals. But with the given resources and time why aren't we making the world better where it counts?

Let the police do the job that they need to. You can crunch those numbers on any regular ol computer, it might take longer but whatever right? I'm looking forward to future progress as opposed to present vindication.

I'd rather see these computers find more digits of Pi.

I understand this stance, and I actually agree with it.
