Default Weight Training For Hockey?

I know hockey is very agressive in the aerobic department and physical but I'm a huge hockey fan. Now I want to maybe join a local league in a few years. I already know the average weight is 200 but I'm only at around 130 lbs. So I'm no where close to that unless I can gain muscle weight but no idea where to begin. I'll need more than dumb bells to pull this off.

Also, I need to learn how to skate first lol.

If your going into a beer league you might make it....lmfao
You don't know how to skate......... that's a huge set back.
Get into skating classes first.
Eat alot of healthy but filling food, pasta, pizza, and such.
Uhhhh aside from weight training do P90X it'll get you stronger. I know people make fun of P90X but it's good for beginners or anyone else trying to get fitter, it's a good work out plan.
I'd suggest getting a gym membership if your serious about it.

you dont need to be that big, im like 160 and one of the most "solid" players in the league, this winter, hit up some free skates with a few buddies or go to an outdoor rink if there is any, or maybe even make one in your backyard if it gets cold enough where you live

I play D1 high school hockey and I'm only 130 pounds. My best advice is to just skate as much as you possibly can. It is the single most effective things I have done because it helps your technique.

But your more vulnerable to injuries if a heavier opponent knocks you into the boards or knocks you down. Have you ever like broken anything?

Yeah, I've broken my arms a few times. It is better to be larger, but if you can't, don't let it hold you back. I can't for the life of me gain a pound. It isn't all size, you can see the best people in the NHL aren't huge. Brian Gionta is only 5'8 and around 170. If you have the right skill and technique, you won't get injured very often. A lot of the time, the smaller ones are better because they are faster and harder to hit.

That is true, although I don't want to spend three months in a hospital.

Yeah, try to gain weight, but it should be the least of your worries.

I've been playing Hockey since I was 5 , I'm 16 now and after playing JV HS for 2 years I'm moving up to Varsity next year. I'm going to start to workout and build up now as much as I can. I'm 5'8" 130ish and the Varsity players are mostly bigger. But I can tell you skating is the most important aspect of hockey. Sure you can be a big guy and a great hitter, but you can be as slow as **** and if you can't skate you can't line someone up. You might have the best hands but if you can't skate where are you going to go ? No where. Start skating NOW if you want to have any shot at playing hockey. Trust me. It takes years, I know it looks pretty easy on TV but it takes years and years of experience and hard practice. Goodluck

To sum up what I said, forget about weight training. If anything do some pushups and go running to gain endurance, that's another thing.
But seriously skate skate skate
