How to track your ISP bandwidth usage
Prerequisites:
Install BitMeter II, download it here:
http://codebox.org.uk/pages/bitmeter2
If you don't already have it, download the .net framework v1.1 here and install it:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=262d25e3-f589-4842-8157-034d1e7cf3a3&displaylang=en
Let's get started:
Step 1:
With BitMeter II running, right-click the system tray icon for BitMeter II and then click 'ISP Restrictions' in the context menu. Image (http://i54.tinypic.com/1qr8g6.jpg)
Step 2:
In the box that opens, make sure 'ISP Restrictions Apply' is checked, then set the 'Limit' input box to your ISP's monthly bandwidth limit. For 'Period Start Date', set this to the day of the month when the ISP restarts the bandwidth meter. Make sure 'Total Traffic' is selected, then click 'Apply' to set the new settings. Click 'Ok' to close the window. Image (http://i53.tinypic.com/2u41z75.jpg)
When you reach 90% of your quota, it will alert you via the small graph on your desktop. Image (http://i53.tinypic.com/oucupl.jpg)
And also on the 'ISP Restrictions' window. Image (http://i52.tinypic.com/2m6ptkz.jpg)
Hope this helps some of y'all out. =)
