Mainstream would be like pop basically. Like if you told someone, they would most likely recognize it. I like the more underground, not mainstream artists because no one knows who the hell they are, so you can easily "convert" someone to listen to them. I mean, like Metallica, you can't really "convert" someone to like them as everyone has listened to them and knows their stuff. But no one knows of Faktion or Adelitas Way, two awesome bands you should listen to but probably never heard of.

No, it's because everyone is selling out to the Pop sound. Rap doesn't suck, it's just that modern rap sucks, everything tries to be a club hit, all rock tries to be radio hits, and all country tries to be southern hits, no one is in it just to make good music anymore, just hits. And we end up with crap like the Jonas *****es and Fallout babies.
