I just installed the update to AIM a day er two ago. I don't know if this will happen to you.. but when it was installed my computer went insanely slow... My computer is actually a nice Inspirion 531S.

Which normally works great. I went to check my processes to see which program was running really heavy on my cpu... it was aim, and aim was at the top.. and my cpu usage was at 98%... after I uninstalled aim, it went all the way down to 46%... my comp is now as fast as when we got it in christmas 08..

I think aim slows down computers a lot.. probably because of the AIM server..

For some reason I've heard many people who experience problems with AIM on their computers. Fortunately, not for me though.

Nah, it can't be aim
It works perfectly well on a dial up (yes, i said dial up) connection as if it was on a high speed connection.
Try downloading the recent aim (6.9) instead of 6.5

get rid of all of the newer versions of aim.

I have one of the versions from about 2 and a half years ago. The older one has everything the newer one has. There's no point in upgrading.
