Hello everyone. I'm currently waiting on the box to send my 3rd Xbox 360 in for repairs. This is my second one of the three to recieve the Ring of Death. I suddenly became interested on how many other people have recieved the ROD at least once. Post a reply, please.

Not me, I've only had mine for about 7 months though.

Best ways to avoid are, keeping it in a well ventilated area, Ie. on its own rather than in a cupboard. You need to have in an upright position so it can ventilate easier because on its side, two of the side vents are hitting the surface just below and the heat is going back inside.

The reason for getting the RROD is because the motherboard heats up, some of the solder melts and it disconnects or something.

Anyway, I know about 10 people out of 60 something that I know IRL that have had RROD so it's a pretty high percentage.

I think you are perhaps unlucky if it has happened 3 times... :S

I'm considering postponing ordering a capture card from Rewards1 and getting an intercooler, as well. I'm not angry at Microsoft, at least they agreed to pay for the repairs, but I guess my 360 could have at least stopped working sometime before I redeemed my 3 Month Xbox Live Code that I had recently recieved from Rewards1.

Never RRoD, but my Xbox 360 has broken three times. I've already recieved the RRod SEVEN times on my fourth Xbox 360 but I simply restart and it works. Not the full ring for un-plugged cables, but three rings. E-68 or whatever it is. No idea why I'm so special.

well i haven't recieved it but i have only had it since februaury. Mine is lying on it's side, but having it upright blocks one of the side vents which isn't very good.

This is why I don't have an xbox, get a PS3!

I would if Sony carried some decent FPS-based games. As I stated before, I'm not angry with Microsoft, because I'm not losing anything. The Xbox Live dilema was taken care of because they're giving me a free Xbox Live 1 Month code. In the end, I'm actually getting more Live time then with my 360 breaking, then if it were still up and running.

You're from the U.K., right? Maybe the 360s there are made with care? Naw, I'm kidding. Enjoy your long-lasting 360 for me, though. :thumbs

Yeah, it would seem as though it's more likely of a person whom has at least gotten the ROD once to recieve it in the future, where as a person whom has never gotten it and has had their 360 for a long period of time.

It gives this option: No, I am lucky enough to have never gotten it. Funny thing is though, i wouldn't even want the game in the first place...

I've had mine for a little over a year. (Got the elite the day it came out) and i've never had any problems. Works flawlessly.

My friend gets it all the time, at least it seems like it. Every time I go to his house to play saint's row, ITS ALWAYS BROKEN!!!:frown He always gets to replace it since it has the ring though...

That's a temporary fix only. The most I've ever gotten it to work myself is around twelve hours.

I got one 10 minutes after i said i didnt have 1. But it was only three red flashing lights, which i guess means disc skipped. Funny thing is, the RRoD only happens when i have my 360 standing upright (like this | ), so i usually just have a fan blow on it and lay it down. (Like this _) :P
Hasnt done it since, guess only 4 red bars jacks up your system? And it only happens when i play GTA4. Wonder whats wrong.. Just my luck anyway :(..

No. The 'Ring of Death', or 'Red Ring of Death' is actually three sections of the full ring instead of an actual complete full ring. A 360 with all sections lit up means something is unplugged and one section means it's over-heating.

Sorry to hear that. I still haven't shipped my 360 off yet, because I hadn't had time to. I'm sure I'll get it done today, though.

i got like a 25" fan blowing on my 360 at high most of the time. Maybe its freezing instead of over heating :P.

Hope i wont have to ship it away any time soon.

In a way I'm glad my 360 keeps failing me. I keep getting free stuff. :thumbs
