View Full Version : Idea: TUTOR section - input needed

This idea came in part from darkrider's post, as well as something else we've been thinking about. I've noticed that some of you are quite knowledgeable and active on the forums, so the idea is to have a separate section where you can have your own "personal tutorial/reference" thread.

Here's what I was thinking. We'll use darkrider as an example and we'll call this new forum section Rewards1 Tutors. He'll be allowed to create one thread in this forum which is "his thread". A couple of ideas for what this would be used for:
1. Any general community help posts (eg. How to more succesfully do offers, The "period trick", etc.) he can now link to from his personal thread, so it'll be one central place where all the articles can be tracked from.

2. Darkrider can link to his own thread from anywhere now. Forums, blog posts, youtube, etc. Eg. He can have his sig say "Free Gamer Codes - Ask me How" and link directly to his own thread so people can see what he's all about.

I'm sure there are many other ideas, but these are just two off the top of my head. You can pretty much do whatever you like with your own thread.

The whole reason for this is, Darkrider can publish his own ref code in his thread to encourage people to sign up under him. eg. "I'll be your tutor please use my ref code" - note this will only work for new users. Lots of times new users are uncertain how to use the site or how it works. If they had a tutor helping them along the way I'm certain they'd be more willing and eager to give it a try. So with this TUTOR section it will be WIN-WIN for the tutor and the new user.

A few notes:
1. Tutors will get special tags so that people can tell who they are.

2. Tutors can correct another tutor if the wrong information is given out - this will help keep the system in check. I just ask that others not post directly in the tutor's thread because that thread belongs to the owner. Also, please be respectful - this idea is meant to help newbies as well as give something back to the tutors. Its not an invitation to slam others.

So there you have it! Would this be something you'd like to see happen? Any suggestions or improvements? What do you guys think??

I'm not sure if you want us to post directly in this thread, but here goes. Delete the post if you don't want it here XD.

I like the idea. Gets more people to be active on the site and will keep the number of questions down too.

I like this idea alot.

Ive been noticing that there may be alot of member in the forum/rewards1.

But less then half of them post/ do offers.

This will help them know were to go.

I agree 100%: this would generate more referrals for users, and get more people to sign up (redundant?). Rewards1 would be a better experience for all, and unless the mentors glue their shift buttons down and yell 24/7 at their referrals, I don't see how this could do anything but increase the site's profitability. And I don't believe that mudslinging among mentors, by the way, would be too much of a problem: IMHO the competition would encourage mentors to polish their own presentation; they would figure out after a time that bettering their own programs is usually more lucrative than worsening others.

One thing, though: would a potential new user have to somehow get sidetracked from the main site and find his/her way to the "mentor" section of the forums to be exposed to the mentor promotion?

I lied: And is this still going on? I haven't seen any recent updates...

Yes, applications are always open for "mentor" status. Potential candidates are asked to participate in the forums long enough to ensure they're a good fit... don't want any looney bins mentoring new users. ;)

One use of the mentor thread is to be linked to, eg. "review style pages" as described in my 'referrals saga' thread.

Last thing is, and I will check with the chief, I would advise you to remove your macrobucks sig. Like I said I'll find out definitively (I suspect he'll agree with me) but my in my opinion its extremely poor taste to advertise a GPT competitor. Discussion and referencing another site no big deal; but blatant advertising I will not tolerate.

Did you know that we do not have any mods? All we have are admins as to why i'm guessing that Mugssy is not on at all. Mods come on forums more then admins as I recall.

It aint gonna work Bam, think about it, mearly everyone on here is already part of rewards1, so why would they want to click your referral link, blatant spam like that should get you banned.
